Reviews Overview

Most Liked

A favorite among patrons is the delicious food, particularly the seafood chowder and the Beef & Guinness pie—both of which receive rave reviews for their taste and portion sizes. The bustling atmosphere during the weekends, especially with live music, creates a delightful buzz that draws both locals and tourists.

Additionally, the impressive variety of drinks, from local beers to an extensive wine list, caters to different preferences and enhances the dining experience. Having outdoor seating options allows guests to enjoy the fresh air while soaking in the beautiful surroundings, making it a great spot in good weather. The friendly service consistently garners praises, adding to the pub’s welcoming vibe.

Most Disliked

One common critique is the limited space inside the pub, which can make it feel cramped, especially during peak hours. Guests often mention the need for a reservation, particularly on busy Sundays. Without prior booking, guests may face long wait times, especially during lunch or dinner rushes when the pub reaches full capacity quickly.

Some might also find the noise levels high during live performances, which can deter those seeking a quieter dining experience. Although the pub tries to accommodate everyone, the bustling atmosphere may not appeal to guests looking for a more relaxed environment. Additionally, some patrons noted that the menu, while varied, could benefit from seasonal specials to keep things fresh and exciting.

Just had our wedding in Cushendun at the weekend and had everyone go for a pre wedding meal on Friday. Had a gorgeous meal and Fiona organised everything. Food was great atmosphere was brilliant and everyone sang the praises of the staff and the pub itself. Used the pub for nightcaps on Saturday night and again brilliant. Special shout out to Cormac who donated two bags of ice for our wedding day at the Old Church on Saturday. You've 50 people leaving. Cushendun singing your praises and that of the village!

Place is small and every inch is occupied by customers, not a bit wonder, we asked for table to order food and girl said best she could do was 30 mins approx, but we got our table in around 10/15 min. Food is well priced and good portions but most important part is it was delicious. Staff friendly and attentive. Lovely wee bar, restaurant will definitely return. Ordered seafood chowder starter, beef Guinness pie with veg and champ, chicken goujons and chips and child wanted mash and gravy, £45.

We were wandering along the Causeway Coastal Route and decided it was time for a break. Glad we decided when we did because the town and beach made for a nice stretch of the legs, and Mary McBride's was a perfect spot for a late lunch.

Loved this pub, the vibe, food and craic was mighty. Nestled in the heart of Cushendun, with all its beautiful setting, it was a proper gem of a pub with genuine warm patrons. The pub itself is quite contained but full of quirky people and things. There's a small front bar accomadating people chilling and supping with ease. The restaurant serves the tastiest food priced very reasonable ( Steak sandwich..and roast beef dinner..£24). Service was fast and efficient, very friendly and accommodating. Everyone looked happy and relaxed. Beautiful drive along the coast and a wonderful meal to replenish and relax, great place ,great setting. Mary McBrides is vibrant, fun and friendly, with great food and grand beer. 😋

A couple of really good pints of Guinness in the afternoon and returned in the evening for dinner. I had the vegetarian roasted cauliflower. Absolutely delicious food, beautifully presented. Cannot recommend highly enough. Plan to visit again soon.
